History

Although I earn my living understanding the bowels of the earth, it allows me to study the heavens. I became interested in astronomy in 1996. Since then, it has been like an obsession. My first telescope was an older Meade 2080 8 inch Schmidt Cassegrain. I live near downtown Calgary and my "logic" encouraged me to try a ST7 CCD to improve the observations. Meantime, with this equipment, some science must be in order so I went back to university and have been taking classes since. Filters are pretty handy for science work. The mount, after some upgrading, would not track very well so a better mount (GT-1100) was then in order. After awhile the "pain" of setting up and tearng down "demanded" a permanent setup and thus a dome. With SBIG improving their blue response in their cameras, I have upgraded my CCD, and also improved the FOV with the ST8.
